In March 2020 I had just bought a Fujinon 100-400 lens when the coronavirus struck and we were all thrown into lockdown.
I spent many hours sitting huddled in layers of clothes with the lens trained on a small bird feeder trying to capture small birds in flight. They are mainly chaffinches, bullfinches, bluetits and great-tits and I saw a few goldfinches but did not catch any in focus at the time.
However, nearly a year later, in February 2021 when we were deluged with tons of snow, I finally managed to get some goldfinches!
